Our Mental Health Connections.
Dear friend and fiend , your thoughts control your attitudes, and your attitudes lead to your actions. We can see that the only way we can ever change who we are now is by changing the way we think.
(Atheists , please skip this paragraph)Look at this Romans 12:2"... God's will for you is good, God's will is pleasing, and God's will for you is perfect will." Then how come we suffer most of the time? Due to our mental connection. We are tempted to do wrong.
Let's look at the process of temptation to "overeat". Eating can affect our mental,
emotional, spiritual and physical health. This process consists of three things: temptation, hesitation, and participation.
1.Temptation. Someone offer you something for free. Ding, ding, ding (in your mind) temptation rings our bell. Our mind starts working out a compromise.
2.Hesitation. Those of us who are compulsive "over eaters/ gullibles" know what the only sane response would have been : "No, thank you, for your free offer. I don't need it." Hesitation always leads to the next step in compromise.
3.Participation. All of us have been where victims of temptations found themselves.Guilt and self-pity. We've got the goods/free offers and we are going head on for it! After we "eat" the last bite, we are at a loss as to how to explain our action/folly.
*The secret of not participating is not to hesitate in the first place*.
Retraining the Mind
Here is a riddle : What is the difference between a teacher and a train-engineer?(Answer below #).
To bring our mind into balance is difficult, but not impossible. Two things we must do,
1.do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, and
2. be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
An important truth we need to grab hold of is this:
*The secret to not participating temptations is to not hesitate in the first place. To not hesitate means that we do not entertain, linger in front, give a second thought/look at those temptations. Who do we think we are kidding? Temptation is all around us, each and every day. Only a corpse cannot be tempted anymore.
The time to pray for help, ask for strength to overcome, is when the temptation appears, not after we have participated.
To attain balance thinking, we must realize that our minds will continue to think about and want what is not good/beneficial for us.
*Retraining our mind requires catching a thought in midair and saying no, before we even have time to hesitate.*
((# answer to the riddle above: A "teacher" trains the mind, while a "train-engineer" minds the train.#) We need both the "teacher" and "train-engineer" in order to retrain our own mind. Train your mind to mind the trains of thoughts going through your mind tunnel daily. Loc-o-motives. choo. . choo.c.choo.. .))
One recommendation we can use to retrain our faulty thinking is scripture memorization.
Our mind-thinking process is 'G.I.G.O', i.e., 'Garbage In, Garbage Out', or "Goodness In, Goodness Out", and the choice is ours.
When we commit God's words to memory, we replace and delete the lies that we have believed for many years with the truth.
*It is NOT IMPOSSIBLE to change ingrown habits if we really want to*. Are we willing? Yes!
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
This "know" here is more than just mental understanding of the facts, but rather first hand-personal-experience for one self, in short, reality.
Our health mental connections. Real freedom and liberty come when we grow to know the truth and when we choose to only live out the truth in our lives. No compromise.
Mental balance will only come when we learn to stop/quit harmful thinking at the point of origination.
