Rooted In Love
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power… to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.” • Ephesians 3:17–18.
At the heart of Paul’s prayer lies a profound longing, not merely for believers to accumulate knowledge about God, but to encounter Him personally and deeply. Not just in theory or theology alone; but to have a lived experience of divine love transforms.
Paul uses the image of being rooted and established in love. Love is not a surface emotion here; it is the foundation, the anchoring soil from which true inner strength grows. Just like a tree cannot survive without deep roots, our spiritual lives cannot thrive apart from a steady grounding in God’s love. Without this love, even the most zealous efforts collapse under the weight of discouragement, insecurity, or striving for human approval.
Rather than asking for outward success or supernatural wonders, Paul prays for power, inner power, to comprehend the staggering dimensions of Christ’s love. Because when we begin to grasp how immense and unshakable His love truly is, our fears quiet down. Our sense of identity stabilizes. We no longer live like orphans chasing validation. We live full, secure, and free.
Lord, root me deeply in Your love. Let it be the anchor of my thoughts, choices, and identity. Deliver me from the hunger for approval and the fear of failure. Strengthen me in my inner being, and open my heart to grasp how wide, long, high, and deep Your love truly is. Fill me with all Your fullness, until my life reflects You from the inside out. Thank you and rooted in the name of Lord Jesus Christ name. Amen
