CHAPTER 20: THE AMAZINGLY SIMPLE BOOSTS YOUR DAILY PRODUCTIVITY

Yes, THE AMAZINGLY SIMPLE TECHNIQUE THAT BOOSTS YOUR DAILY PRODUCTIVITY is here.

I don’t work on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday,so basically I have a
long weekend almost every weekend. Most of the time I work three or
four days a week, unless I have an important project going on, when I
may choose to work Friday as well.

I work as little or as much as I want. Because I don’t work seven days
a week, I have to make sure that when I do work I am super-productive.
I have structured the way I work in a very productive manner—such as
not taking unscheduled incoming calls.

A lot of people have the tendency to pick up thephone when itrings.
It’s like we’ve been trained like circus monkeys. No tme. I set my own time schedule and make others work around me. I ONLY do prescheduled phone appointments.

And isn’t it true that90%ofthetimetheincomingcallsaren’t
thatimportantanyway?Isn’tittrue90%ofthetimetheyaren’tTHAT
urgent?

Infact,here’swhatmyvoicemailsays:

“You’ve reached the office of  ME The Man. I am either on the
phone or away from the office. Please leave your name, your phone
number, and the purpose of your call. Please don’t expect me to call
you back right away. I’ll get back to you whenever I am available. Thank
you for calling.”

So you might think, “Well, aren’t you difficult to work with?”I
wouldn’t use the word difficult. I’m just different.

Besides, it’s more productive for both parties anyway. How?

Because you know when you schedule a call with me, I’m not doing
anything else.I’m expecting your call. It eliminates phone tag.You
know you have my undivided attention during that period of time.

Bill Gates schedules his appointments in six-minute increments. I
have mine in fifteen-minute increments. I set aside blocks of time for
ever ything that I do during the day, including checking e-mails, which
I usually do after lunch time. And once I do, I don’t check my e-mails
anymoreandIworkonsomethingelse.

ARE YOU WASTING TOO
MUCH TIME ON EMAIL?

I know some people check their e-mails
ten times a day, especially if they have an
Internet business.

MONEYISM #54
You can sell people on doing business with you on your terms, as long as they know what’s in it for them.
