The Nobel Prize, by founded Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, were first awarded in year 1901. Mr Nobel himself, the inventor of dynamite, died childless in 1896. Prior to his death, he realized that all the wealth he accumulated in his life will not help him, hence, he founded this Nobel Prize Foundation to encourage humans to better the life of others through the search of human knowledge, dedicating his vast fortune to create the prizes.

Laureates receive 10 million Swedish knonor (SGD$2 million) which can be split between up to three winners per prize.
